Introducing the branding campaign "We've Got That Disney Sound" with the lead-in, "With ears like these, of course we create great sound!" Melissa designed a campaign using a play on the word "sound," with phrases like "Sounds Great!" and "Make the Sound Choice."
Many meetings later, a business plan was born...and accepted.
Using advertising, publicity and collateral materials, the campaign engaged social media, traditional media, sales presentations and word-of-mouth.
The newly-branded Disney Sound went from cost-center to profit-center within the first fiscal year, reflecting the power of effective branding.

Writing publicity pieces for private company intranet and for public internet, Melissa covered "Days Of Our Lives," "Ellen," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," and "Access Hollywood" for NBC, wrote sales pieces for the Universal Sound Department to market its crew to potential clients and created the "Art Is Universal" campaign for Asset Recovery, Technical Operations and Content Management.
Melissa was tapped by various employers to write awards-related and marketing materials in addition to her regular duties. She has written submissions and helped create advertising and publicity materials and prepared content promoting nominees for the Academy Awards, The Emmys, the Peabody Awards (excellence in stories for television), Hugo Awards, Saturn Awards (both science fiction), Annie Awards (animation), the Gracie Awards presented by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation, Cinema Audio Society Awards (sound) and the BAFTA Awards presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
Melissa led publicity campaigns for the North San Diego Chamber of Commerce, San Diego Women's Week and for the Shorty Awards (best in social and digital media) for "Divine: The Miniseries" and wrote the printed program for Women In Film's Crystal Awards ceremony.
Melissa says, "Absolutely! When I was Director of Marketing at Timepiece Entertainment, I was working on the feature film, 'All Alone.' The producers surprised me with a credit as Marketing Producer in addition to the Publicist credit. I was thrilled! The producers and cast were so wonderful, and the film went on to become an Official Selection Santa Barbara International Film Festival."
Melissa also has freelanced as a reader for agents, reading scripts and books that might be appropriate to option for film and television, as well as doing product placement for major motion pictures, such as "Nuts," "Extremities," "Little Shop of Horrors" and "The Witches of Eastwick."
