Whether customizing new technologies, updating old systems and processes, optimizing client and vendor relationships, or improving team member relationships through employee development initiatives,
By integrating disparate systems through the customization of multi-platform software, the workflow from initial client research, sales, scheduling, and production through billing, reconciliation, receivables, vaulting and archiving, cost reduction was achieved through allocation of all shared resources. Profits were returned to the company, past depreciation was paid off and capital budgets were allocated to upgrade or replace to newer technologies.

As the Operations Director at Sony Pictures Studios, Melissa was 1 of 5 people who worked on the creation, development and rollout of Sony Dynamic Digital Sound. SDDS is a cinema sound system which compresses digital sound information and records it on both outer edges of the 35mm film release print.
The system supports up to eight independent channels of sound: five front channels, two surround channels and a sub-woofer bass channel.
When Melissa joined the team at Walt Disney Imagineering, her department had years of old depreciation to pay down before it could invest in renovation, new equipment and upgraded processes.
She successfully convinced the company to allow her to pull the department out of the cost center, institute new ways of operating and recruiting outside business.
After negotiating with management, unions, attorneys, executives, agents, staff and clients, she spearheaded an interactive system that was customized to manage projects from potential client status through sales, scheduling crew, assets and studios, subsequent billing and archiving of thousands of elements. The system was so streamlined that two other divisions of the company adopted its use.
By using evidence-based decision making to institute a "best practices approach," the department was able to "do more with less." Ad
ditional studios were added and routed through the central machine room rather than having redundant machines in each studio, saving on capital expenditures and increased headcount.

What is the nicest compliment you have been given about your job?"
"There are two, actually. One of my bosses once told me that, when it came to multitasking, I could juggle more balls than any clown at the circus, which was flattering and hysterical at the same time.
And the other was from the President of the division who told me that he never would have gotten that job without me. It was very kind of him to say."
At NBC, Melissa helped revamp the paper-intensive scheduling and billing systems in Network Operations by applying the best practices procedures she had refined at Disney.
Adapting the scheduling and reconciliation of crew and stages functions that she developed at Disney, Melissa automated many manual procedures for DAYS OF OUR LIVES, THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO, ELLEN, ACCESS HOLLYWOOD, local affiliate KNBC and other television series.
By streamlining the scheduling and reconciliation functions, processes were moved from a paper-based system to online, reducing redundancies by 32%.
Melissa utilized many diverse events to promote team building, including an authentic British tea, a Kentucky Derby party, a food truck caravan, a softball tournament, Mardi Gras, St. Patrick and Cinco de Mayo celebrations and trips to the theme park.
